Last night I attended the Ramen and Friends 'non-noodle night' at AQ Kafe. It was a comfortable place- spacious and relaxing. The desserts were tasty- the group shared the Budapest log and princess torte, which were both lovely. but the savory food was very uneven. I had the meatballs with mashed potatoes, which was basically a big pile of bland. The meat, potatoes, and gravy had no flavor whatsoever. I had to add copious amounts of salt and pepper, and it was still not enough to help this dish. I cannot understand how a creamy gravy can be bland. When does that ever happen? And the potatoes...potatoes are one of my most favorite comfort foods. This was probably the first time that I've never finished my mash. The offending spuds were creamy and smooth, but had no flavor at all. So sad. The meatballs followed suit, just being balls of mushy mush (yes that is the technical term for them). It does not sound very appetizing, and believe me, they were not. If you are looking for tasty Swedish meatballs, do not go to AQ cafe! head over to Ikea! Cheap, filling, and tasty. Others in the group had the smorgasbord, which included gravlax and herring. I should have ordered this, as it got much better reviews. For pics and more info, check out

On the train ride home, I was trying to listen to some music and decompress from my busy day. I was trying not to think about work, but then the doors opened and I got to see this:

Oh well! I guess it was inevitable. Apparently our season premiere of The Tudors did fairly well, beating out the season premiere of In Treatment.
This morning I'm trying to stay awake, avoid a Christian Louboutin sale online (they were $300 off, but the lowest heel is 3 inches. there is no way i can walk in those gorgeous shoes. sigh.), and get ready for Passover with my family.
